TIME TO APPRECIATE THE DOCUMENTATION

In 1680 the Dutch brought the painter to take pictures of various phenomena in Indonesia. They documented the photos to be observed and beneficial for knowledge. One thing that astounded me was an image of women in Jember who is processing iles-iles (amorphophallus) to eat. This image is arranged in a book published in 1680 which is stored in the library of Coffee Research Center for Indonesian cocoa.

Based on the images it is found that we are already familiar with iles2/suwek for long time. Unfortunately, why others who can take advantage of a product into softex and pampers? That's the importance of documentation. Documentation is the baton that helps us move forward.

In recent time, the developing of data storage medium is very fast. There are pictures and voice recorder at HP. There are dozens of gigabytes of data storage media (flasdisk). But do we realize to save the phenomena around us ? It is important to realize that the HP camera shots will help our generation to do easier. They do not bother to start from the start line.

If there is documentation about how our ancestors made the ship, the documentation of the maritime sector is more intense than now, and how borobudur made, certainly better than our architecture today, and if there is documentation about how we became Americans, Europeans, or Arabs with our clothes and hair fashion today, surely our future generations can judge objectively whether we are feasible to be admired / ridiculed or not.

What documentation is important, because it can be a measure whether our civilization moves forward, walking in place, or even backwards.

Ah, if there are videos that illustrate how the learning behavior of Bung Karno in mastering various languages. Certainly it is easy to contemplate, we are developed or retreat. Let's save the phenomena around us by documenting intensively, in any way, even if it had just a piece of paper notes. In order for our children and grandchildren do not catch the baton of confusion in our civilization.
